This week on F4Blog...
Got a few days off this week? Kick back and tune into F4Blog.com for some holiday season content.
On the table:
1. Interview with Destroyers superfan Dawgman.
This interview is actually complete and is unlike any I have done before. This time it's a video interview in which you can see both of us talking. Although we did finish it, there is some great in-video restructuring going on which will take place a couple of days after Christmas. The F4Blog program is getting a facelift and you viewers will be the first to see it. The interview will be released on the 26th or 27th.
2. New F4Blog.com promo video.
With exclusive player soundbites, I will be making a promo video for the website. You will see bites from all of the players I did interviews with and more - welcoming you to F4Blog.com. This will also be out the 26th.
3. Possible player interview.
There are multiple options out there as it stands, but a player interview might be taking place over the Christmas weekend or after. There are no guarantees on this, but something is in the works.
4. Interviews with Billy Parker and Weylan Harding compacted.
Although I did these shorter interviews months ago, many have not seen them due to the format in which they were released (embedded in the Dragons Press Conference video). This will come out Christmas night.
5. Launch of Firebirds Companion Site
I'll leave the details out of this one.
6. Comments enabled.
Try to scatter around some of your opinions. This is a blog for the fans and for too long there has been no place to voice yourself here. Underneath every entry there is a place you can click if you want to comment. Conger up some discussions on either new posts or old!!
7. Alternate URL.
Through another purchase I acquired "www.survivethesuspension.com" and now, that URL (as well as F4Blog.com obviously) will take you to this website.

Blog colors changed...
In this season off, the league generally should be concentrated on more than exclusively the Dragons. Although there probably will be more Dragons players than players of other teams, I am attempted to, for this season off, make this a more AFL-centric website than its Dragons past.
It will not lose its identity, it will simply be broadened and offer a much higher diversity of content sources.

According to Tim Marcum (and now all sources), we are safe!

UPDATE: Many more of the most reputable sources have confirmed this, including my own.
With rumors swirling of the league folding tomorrow, and reports stating the league was taking its last breaths, the owners finally met today to conclude their talks.
UPDATE: In a league statement,
According to Tim Marcum, AFL coaching veteran of 22 years (currently with the Storm) and the most winning coach in AFL history (7 Arena Bowls), the AFL is safe for 2009."NEW YORK – Despite rumors and reports to the contrary, the Arena Football League Board of Directors has not suspended the 2009 season at this time. The Board met via conference call this evening.
The Board will continue to meet regularly to examine any and all long-term structural improvement options for the AFL"
In Adam Adkins' Storm Report and a report from Tampabay.com, he states:
"Marcum said the league’s board of directors voted Wednesday night to move ahead with the season. Marcum said he wasn’t sure how many teams will play this year, but that the Tampa Bay Storm would be one of them and that the arena league will continue.
Marcum said he certainly felt a sense of relief with the news the league would continue, but lashed out at the varios media reports that had circulated in recent days that stated the AFL, which is said to be in serious financial trouble, was likely to cancel the 2009 season and possibly cease operations altogether"
In a quote from Marcum:
"One thing I’m very disappointed in is this predetermination, the false information that was out there, that said the Arena Football League was doomed,” Marcum said. I don’t know why people [media] are doing this. Nothing can happen without a vote of the board of directors, and they voted tonight going forward."

A Few Minutes with Terry Moss
I got the chance to briefly chat with Terry Moss today, and we discussed the off-season, upcoming season, and his view on some matters.
Moss has been in Dayton the whole off-season, just working out fairly secluded from team matters. Terry proved to be a formidable threat last year, and with our seasoned veterans gone in Anthony and Swayne, this will be his chance to step up. We got to talking about the upcoming season, and Moss dished out his prediction:
"To the be modest 10-6 at worst...I say this because last year we had so many rookies including me...and even though most of us played at a high level I believe that this year we would come in with a better confidence and understanding. Hopefully we will catch the ground running instead of having to fight like last year."
Terry has a point, in a year when rookies seemed to dominate the team, the young guns now have both regular season experience and significant playoff experience. The learning curve is out of the way, and these players look to truly break out next season.
